everything looks a little blurry, but it all smells fresh.

i had a wonderful birthday. derek made us eggplant parmesan on spaghetti, and lovely little salads dressed with feta, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. john and mele withstood horrifying lines to bring us home a cheesecake. they sang happy birthday, and i made two wishes. i already opened my birthday presents on friday when we all went out to the Citrus Club, and they're still beautiful. it all makes me feel like things work out more than they get messed around. and i got an A in figure painting, so i think i'm on the road to straight As. i hope things work out.

tomorrow is derek and my one year anniversary. when he gets home for work, before we rush off to the airport, we will do the pee pee dance to david bowie, tell eachother to be safe on the plane we'll both be on, and perhaps hold a tissue to the other's nose and tell each other to "blow". it feels like we've known each other for a lot longer than 18 months, but it also feels like the past year happened within a span of two weeks. look how far we've come--and look at how we've changed in the process(!). we're still growing up, little guy, but sometimes i think i would be a lot more cynical without you there to hit my chest with the back of your hand and go, "Hey. Hey."
